Advice and FAQs
During the ride:
- Stay behind the ride leader
- Stay together as one big group – at traffic lights, keep going until we are through
- Don’t cross the white line in the middle of the road, cars might be coming the other way
- Parents ride with your kids – kids ride closest to the pavement
- Leave a gap for marshals to move past you near the white middle line
- If you need to stop, move onto the pavement
- Smile, wave, ring your bell and have fun!
Can balance bikes and trikes join?
We find that children on balance bikes or trikes are unlikely to complete the full route and keep up.
We go slowly, but at the pace of a pedal bike. You are welcome to join the beginning on a balance bike or trike, but you should prepare and discuss a plan B for little legs and be ready to leave the ride, if you’re struggling or the back marshal recommends it.
I’m not sure my child can ride that far
Our advice is the same, talk to your child about when you might check in and decide to leave the ride or continue. There are several points where we stop and bunch up again, and you can always ask a marshal for advice.
Why not do a test run of two loops of Stoke Park to be sure?
